Students?

As partial fulfillment for graduation requirements of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), students in Ontario secondary schools must complete forty (40) hours of community volunteer involvement with an approved community organization or agency.  Any activities that meet the volunteer involvement criteria must receive prior approval by the student’s high school principal.   Activities must not replace the work of a paid employee, and must occur outside of the student’s instructional day.  Student success teachers in each secondary school in the Keewatin Patricia district School Board regularly track and monitor student hours’ completion.

**Please note as a result of recent ministry legislation, students as of June 2011, are able to successfully complete community involvement hours during the summer following completion of grade 8 graduation and the start of grade 9 in on volunteer hours prior to the beginning of grade 9.
